Let’s Acknowledge the Weight

First things first—this is not about pretending everything’s fine.

It’s okay if you feel tired.
It’s okay if you’ve been crying.
It’s okay if you’ve been angry, numb, overwhelmed, or unsure where to even place your energy.

We are not meant to carry the weight of the world in our hands and on our screens, 24/7.
But here we are.
And it's exhausting.

So let’s take a breath together.
Let’s stop pretending we have to be superheroes in order to care.


You’re Allowed to Keep Dreaming—Even Here

There’s a part of you that still wants more.
To build.
To create.
To be part of something better.

And sometimes, in the face of global pain, that desire can feel… selfish.
Like how dare I dream when so many are suffering?

But here’s the thing—
Hope is not a betrayal. It’s a rebellion.
To keep dreaming in the face of destruction is resistance.

The world needs more people who are rooted in justice and vision.
People who take action and take care of themselves.
People who can grieve and still choose to build something new.


Staying Grounded While Staying Awake

So how do we keep going? How do we stay awake to the pain of the world without collapsing under it?
Here are some real, no-perfection-needed tips for navigating this strange duality:


1. Let Yourself Feel, Then Choose Your Response

It’s okay to cry.
To shut down for a moment.
To step away from the noise and come back to your body.

But after the emotion comes the invitation: What can I do with what I feel?

Sometimes it’s speaking up.
Sometimes it’s donating, protesting, voting.
Sometimes it’s simply checking in on a friend or starting a conversation.

You don’t have to do it all—just do something.


2. Create Micro-Moments of Safety in a Chaotic World

You can’t fix the world overnight. But you can build a small sanctuary for your nervous system.

  • Light a candle while reading the news

  • Wrap yourself in a blanket before replying to hard messages

  • Journal your grief, your hope, your confusion

  • Let your body move to shake off the stress

These moments aren’t about avoidance.
They’re about resilience.


3. Give Yourself Permission to Rest AND Rise

You are not weak for needing rest.
You are not selfish for needing joy.
You are not detached for laughing or loving or living while the world burns.

You’re human.
And humans need fuel to fight the good fight.

You can care deeply about what’s happening and still care for yourself.

You will not always get it right.

We need more builders, dreamers, and protectors of peace.
