Your Path to Healing Is Sacred—Let It Be Yours
The Journey That Actually Works: Yours (Your Self-Care Path Is Sacred—Let It Be Yours)
Hey Wellness Family!
What a week it has been! With the full moon and the constantly shifting and intense energies it brings; I know we have a lot to talk about when it comes to how we are feeling.
When we hear the phrase “self-care,” it often brings up a very specific image.
Bubble baths. Face masks. Yoga flows. Morning routines with green smoothies and gratitude lists.
And while those things can absolutely be part of a self-care routine, what happens when they don’t work for you? Or worse, when they feel like just another thing you’re “supposed” to do?
That’s where the overwhelm begins.
But here’s the truth that no one tells you enough:
Self-care is not one-size-fits-all.
It’s not a checklist.
It’s not a trend.
It’s a personal process of learning what brings you back to you.
And it’s okay if that takes some time.

Why We Get Stuck with “The Shoulds” of Self-Care
It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking there’s a “right way” to care for yourself. Social media is overflowing with curated routines and advice from influencers and experts. They say, “This worked for me, so it will work for you.”
But we forget one important thing:
We’re not all wired the same way.
Some of us recharge through silence, others through movement.
Some thrive with structure, others with spontaneity.
And some days, what nourishes us changes entirely.
Self-care isn’t about what you do—it’s about how it makes you feel.
Does it calm your body?
Does it center your mind?
Does it reconnect you with your sense of self?
My Journaling Journey: From Venting to Transformation
When I first started journaling, it was just a way to get things out of my head.
I didn’t have a format.
I didn’t know what I was doing.
I just wrote—sometimes with anger, sometimes in tears, sometimes mid-scroll on my phone between appointments.
It was raw. It was unstructured. It was messy.
But it was mine.
And over time, something started to shift.
The more I wrote, the more I wanted to understand myself.
So I started reading. Studying different journaling methods. Trying prompts, time limits, morning entries, evening reflections.
And slowly, a strategy started to form.
Now?
Journaling is the way I:
Calm my nervous system
Process thoughts clearly
Track my habits and intentions
And even connect spiritually through affirmations and reflection
It evolved.
Because I allowed it to.
And I let myself try, fail, restart, and discover what actually worked for me.
Let Yourself Try Different Tools Until Something Clicks
Here’s the magic:
You don’t have to get it right on the first try.
There is no gold medal for perfect self-care.
But there is growth when you stay curious.
If something doesn’t feel good, it doesn’t mean self-care isn’t for you—it means that specific tool isn’t your fit yet.
Try walking without headphones.
Try journaling with a prompt.
Try sitting with your feelings instead of numbing them.
Try dancing in your kitchen to that one song that always lifts your mood.
Keep trying—but with grace.
Remember: This Is a Marathon, Not a Race
We all want to improve.
We want to feel better, show up better, live better.
But self-improvement without self-compassion is just another form of pressure.
It’s okay to grow slowly.
It’s okay to rest along the way.
And it’s okay to outgrow tools that once worked for you.
You don’t need to “arrive.”
You just need to keep showing up for yourself.
One breath.
One choice.
One moment at a time.
"There is no greater journey than the one that you must take to discover all of the mysteries that lie within you."
—Michelle Sandlin
